e. Some pig
Homer Zuckerman:
Well, what can I say about this pig that hasn't already been said?
I
know a lot of you folks have come out to the farm and you've seen the
words, and a lot of you have asked me, 'how could this have happened?'.
I
don't know, but it has happened... at a time when we really don't see
many miraculous things.
Maybe we do.
Maybe they're all right there
around us everyday, we just don't know where to look.
There's no denying
that our own little Wilbur... he's part of something that's bigger than
all of us.
And life on that farm's just a whole lot better with him in
it. He really is some pig.
2. extra information
a. Flora (mythology)
In Roman mythology, Flora was a Sabine-derived goddess of flowers and of the season of spring – a symbol for nature and flowers (especially the may-flower). While she was otherwise a relatively minor figure in Roman mythology, being one among several fertility goddesses, her association with the spring gave her particular importance at the coming of springtime, as did her role as goddess of youth.
b. Florence Cathedral
The Dome of Florence Cathedral (Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flowers) is the main church of Florence, Italy. Il Duomo di Firenze, as it is ordinarily called, was begun in 1296 in the Gothic style with the design of Arnolfo di Cambio and completed structurally in 1436 with the dome engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi. The exterior of the basilica is faced with polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th-century Gothic Revival façade by Emilio De Fabris.
Dante Before the City of Florence by Domenico di Michelino (1465). This painting is especially interesting because it shows us, apart from scenes of the Divine Comedy, a view on Florence in 1465, a Florence such as Dante himself could not have seen in his time.
